Terms of Service
Last updated November 1, 2026
These Terms of Service explain how renting a golf cart from STARBNB LLC works: booking, paying, delivery and return, using the cart, changes, cancellations, additional charges, and refunds. By booking or paying on this site you agree to these Terms. Your signed Release of Liability is part of your rental agreement too.
1. Who we are
STARBNB LLC ("StarBnB", "we", "us"), a Texas limited liability company, operates this website and the golf cart rental, and is the company named in the Release of Liability. "Golf Carts by StarBnB" describes this site and service; it is not a separate company. You can reach us by phone at (956) 224-9225, open 24 hours, 7 days, or by mail at STARBNB LLC, 223 E Maxan St, PMB 16, Port Isabel, TX 78578.
These Terms cover this website, the guest portal, and every cart reservation made or paid for here. "You" means the person who books and pays (the renter), who is also the first person to sign the Release.
2. Who can rent and drive
Only authorized drivers who have signed the Release may drive the cart. The renter is automatically an authorized driver after signing. Every other driver must be invited by the renter in the guest portal (by name and email) and must sign the same Release through the secure link we email them before driving. Every driver must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver's license. Minors may never drive.
The renter must invite every other driver, and each must sign before driving. The renter is responsible for preventing anyone who is not an authorized driver from driving. A non-authorized driver is a violation of these Terms that can lead to termination or cancellation of the rental without refund, and the renter is responsible for all resulting damage, fines, and losses.
Delivery does not wait for other drivers: it goes ahead once the renter has signed and paid. The portal shows each invited driver as invited or signed.
You confirm these requirements with a checkbox when you book and again when you sign the Release. We do not ask you to upload a license.
Carts are for use only inside Long Island Village (LIV) in Port Isabel, Texas. Golf carts are not allowed on Port Isabel or South Padre streets. Leaving Long Island Village is illegal for golf carts and voids your rental.
3. Booking
You can book without an account. Pick a cart and your dates, add your contact details, then choose the lot and street where you are staying in Long Island Village.
Rentals are counted by nights, like a hotel stay. Saturday to Sunday is one rental night, and the return date does not count as another rental day. Calendar prices, minimum and maximum lengths, discounts, and confirmation emails all count nights. A reservation runs from 1 to 183 nights (about six months), and some carts have a longer minimum, which the booking page shows. The return date can be up to 365 days from the day you book.
When you continue past the "Where you're staying" step, your dates are held for 10 minutes while you sign the Release and pay. If the timer runs out, the hold ends and the dates may go to someone else. You can try again if they are still free.
Your reservation is confirmed only when payment succeeds. We then email a confirmation from carts@starbnb.io. That address does not accept replies, so send questions and changes through the guest portal or call us.
If a payment goes through but the dates were taken by then, StarBnB will refund you or rebook you.
Dates, times and deadlines on this site use Central Time (America/Chicago).
4. Rental times, delivery and return
The standard rental period starts at 4 PM on the start date and ends at 11 AM on the return date, Central Time.
- Delivery is free. We deliver the cart to the lot and street you give when you book, by 4 PM on the start date. Delivery may happen earlier depending on our schedule. If you arrive late, the cart is already waiting at your lot.
- By 11 AM on the return date, leave the cart at the designated lot, accessible and ready for collection, with the keys handled according to our return instructions.
- Nobody needs to be present for delivery or pickup.
- We may physically collect the cart after 11 AM. That does not extend your permitted use, and it never creates a late charge if the cart was ready on time.
- You can ask for an earlier start or a later return. These are subject to our approval and availability.
5. Prices and sales tax
Each cart page shows its nightly rate and what is included, such as a full battery, roadside concierge, and free delivery. Insurance for you is not included: StarBnB's insurance covers StarBnB, not renters or drivers, and you are responsible for damage under these Terms and the Release. Check your own auto, homeowner's, renter's, or travel policy for coverage. Some nights can cost more or less than the usual rate, and the booking calendar shows each night's own price.
Some carts offer a weekly discount (7 or more nights) or a monthly discount (28 or more nights). Any discount is shown before you pay.
Texas state and local sales tax, currently 8.25%, is added on top of the rental price after any discount, and on top of any taxable additional charge. The total, including tax, is shown before you pay.
The price you see once your dates are held is the price you are charged.
6. Payment and saved payment method
You pay the full rental price plus applicable tax when you book. There is no separate security deposit or card hold. Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details go to Stripe and are not stored on this site. Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Link appear when your device supports them.
At checkout, Stripe saves your payment method, and you authorize STARBNB LLC to charge it later for specified amounts you owe under this rental agreement (see "Additional charges"), after the itemized notice and 72-hour window described there. We keep a record of that authorization with your reservation: the version of the text you agreed to and when.
Refunds go back to the original payment method.
7. Release of Liability
Before you pay, you read and sign the STARBNB LLC Release of Liability online, with a drawn or typed signature. The signed Release is part of your agreement with STARBNB LLC and is incorporated into these Terms by reference. The signed copy (PDF) is attached to your confirmation email and stays in your guest portal. You can ask for a paper copy at no charge, or withdraw consent to electronic records, by calling us or writing to the mailing address below; withdrawing consent before signing means the booking cannot be completed online.
The Release covers the rental and use of the cart anywhere, including on LIV streets and during delivery and pickup, for your reservation, including any rescheduled, extended, or changed dates and any substitute cart StarBnB provides. You sign it for yourself and everyone in your party. Each invited driver signs the same Release.
You may decline the Release. Because you sign before you pay, declining means the booking does not go ahead and you are not charged. The Release also says StarBnB will refund any fees you have paid if you choose not to sign it.
If these Terms and the Release say different things about risk, injury, liability, indemnity, or how disputes are resolved, the Release controls. Damage and other additional charges follow the "Additional charges" section of these Terms, which the Release also points to: documented damage that occurs during your rental, never pre-existing damage or ordinary wear.
8. Operating rules and prohibited uses
While you have the cart, you, your party and every driver must:
- Keep the cart inside LIV. Golf carts are not allowed on Port Isabel or South Padre streets, and leaving LIV is illegal for golf carts and voids your rental.
- Let only authorized drivers who have signed the Release drive.
- Not exceed the stated seating capacity, including children. Everyone must remain seated in a designated seat while the cart is moving. No one may ride on the sides or back of the cart. Children in rear-facing seats must hold on and be supervised by an adult.
- Obey posted speed limits, LIV rules, the safety sheet printed on the steering wheel, and the Club Car owner's manual, and follow any directions from StarBnB or its staff.
- Not drive recklessly, drive off-road where that is not authorized, tow anything, or drive through floodwater.
- Use proper lights when driving after dark.
- Not drive while impaired by alcohol or drugs.
- Not drink alcohol or have open alcoholic containers on the cart, including passengers. Transporting sealed alcohol is allowed.
- Keep music at a considerate volume and not disturb residents, especially during LIV quiet hours, and follow any additional LIV restrictions on music in common areas.
You are responsible for making sure everyone in your party, and anyone you let use the cart, knows and follows these rules, these Terms and the Release, and for their use of the cart. LIV fines for violations during your rental are your responsibility. If you are not sure whether something is allowed, ask us before you do it.
9. Additional charges
Under the authorization you give at checkout, StarBnB may charge your saved payment method for these amounts owed under the rental agreement:
- Documented damage to the cart or its equipment that occurs during your rental. Damage charges never include pre-existing damage or ordinary wear. The amount is the documented repair or replacement cost. We photograph the cart's condition at delivery and pickup, and damage is charged only within 10 days after the cart is returned.
- Missing equipment, such as keys, chargers or accessories, at its replacement cost.
- Excessive cleaning beyond normal use, at the documented cleaning cost.
- Fines charged to STARBNB LLC because of your rental, such as LIV fines for violations during your rental.
- Additional rental days or late use, as described in "Late returns".
Notice first. StarBnB staff review every additional charge and email you an itemized notice before anything is charged: what it is for, how the amount was determined, the amount and any sales tax, with photos and an estimate or invoice where they apply, and a link to pay or dispute it. Sales tax is added when the charge is taxable.
If you don't pay or dispute an itemized charge within 72 hours of our notice, STARBNB LLC will charge the payment method on file. If you dispute it in the guest portal within those 72 hours, we do not charge your card for it while we review your dispute; we will contact you, and we either withdraw the charge, adjust it, or send a new notice with a new 72-hour window.
If the saved payment method cannot be charged, you can pay the charge in the guest portal under "Charges due." StarBnB can withdraw a charge it added.
10. Late returns and additional days
The cart is due, and must be available for collection, by 11 AM on the return date. Minor same-day delays do not automatically create a charge.
If the cart is still being used, or is not reasonably available for collection, after 4 PM on the return date without an approved extension, staff may assess one additional rental day. If it is still overdue after 4 PM on a later day, staff may assess another additional day. Returning it in the middle of the night still counts as only the days whose 4 PM had passed; there is no hourly charge.
Each additional day is a flat charge at your reservation's average nightly rate: the discounted rental total divided by the number of booked nights, excluding taxes and other fees, plus any sales tax that applies. There is no hourly proration and no doubled rate.
Staff review every late return and can approve extra time or waive the charge based on the circumstances. A late-return charge is never created automatically because a reservation ended or because we have not yet marked the cart as collected; a charge staff do add follows the notice-first process in "Additional charges". A cart that was ready on time never creates a late charge because we collected it later, and a breakdown caused by the cart is handled separately from a late return.
The 4 PM assessment time does not change the 11 AM return requirement and does not give you permission to keep using the cart. To keep the cart longer, request an extension; extensions require approval and payment before they take effect.
11. Changing your dates
To change your dates, sign in to the guest portal and send a change request. Date changes are subject to our approval and availability. Your requested dates are held while StarBnB reviews them, and you can cancel the request while it is waiting.
Nights you already booked keep the price you paid. New nights are priced at the cart's current rates.
- Extensions and other changes that cost more require approval and payment before they take effect. You pay the difference plus sales tax in the portal before the deadline we give you (usually 24 hours). If you do not pay in time, the approval lapses, the new dates are released, and your reservation stays as it was.
- Before the rental begins, removing nights follows the cancellation percentages, applied to the rental charges for the removed nights and measured from the original scheduled 4 PM start: 100% back at least 168 hours before, 50% from 48 to 168 hours before, and nothing within 48 hours. Tax is adjusted to match.
- Once the rental begins, shortening it or returning the cart early does not produce a refund.
- Rescheduling cannot restore a refund entitlement that had already expired. For example, if you move your dates when you are within the 50% window, later cancellations or reductions on that reservation refund at most 50%.
- If StarBnB declines the request, we email you and your reservation stays as it was.
12. Substitute carts
If your cart breaks down, goes missing, or is otherwise unavailable, StarBnB may move your reservation to another cart, either for the whole booking or from a given day during your rental.
You keep the price you paid. If the substitute cart costs less for the nights it replaces, StarBnB may refund the difference to your card, and we email you when we do. The Release covers the substitute cart.
13. Cancellations and refunds
You can cancel your reservation yourself in the guest portal, without waiting for staff approval, until the rental starts. The refund is calculated automatically from the time you submit the cancellation, measured from the scheduled 4 PM Central Time start on your start date:
- At least 168 hours (7 days) before the scheduled start: a 100% refund, including all the tax you paid.
- At least 48 hours but fewer than 168 hours before the scheduled start: a 50% refund of the rental charges, with the tax adjusted to match.
- Fewer than 48 hours before the scheduled start: no refund.
After the rental starts, contact us instead; ending the rental early or returning the cart early does not produce a refund.
You can still cancel when no refund is due. The portal shows the refund amount before you confirm. When you confirm, the reservation is cancelled and the dates are released immediately.
The policy applies to the payment already collected. Refunds go back to the original payment method.
Cancelling because of ordinary weather or an unfavorable forecast follows this same policy.
If StarBnB cancels your reservation, we email you with the amount refunded.
14. When we cannot provide the rental
If we cannot provide a usable cart through no fault of yours, or we require the rental to stop because of an official closure, an evacuation, or dangerous conditions, we refund the unused portion of your rental: the rental charges for every night from the day the cart could not be used or the rental stopped, with the tax on them.
Refunds also happen in the other cases described in these Terms: a cheaper substitute cart, a payment for dates that were no longer available, and declining the Release.
15. Ending a rental for rule violations
If you or anyone using the cart seriously or repeatedly breaks these Terms or the Release, for example by driving while impaired, letting a driver who is not an authorized driver operate the cart, or taking it outside LIV, StarBnB may end or cancel the rental without refund and collect the cart. A rental ended for these reasons is not a cancellation by StarBnB: the unused-portion refund in "When we cannot provide the rental" does not apply, and the Additional charges section still applies.
16. Guest portal and sign-in
You do not need an account to book. To view, change, or cancel a reservation, sign in with a one-time link we email to the address you booked with. Sign-in links work once and expire after a few hours (no more than about six); request a new one anytime.
In the portal you can see your reservations, your signed Release, and when your cart was delivered, request date changes, cancel, pay for changes and charges, and send us messages.
Keep access to your email secure. Anyone who can open your email can sign in to your reservations. How we handle your information is explained in our Privacy page.
17. Limitation of liability and indemnity
Using a golf cart has inherent risks. Under the Release, you assume those risks and release STARBNB LLC from claims for injury, death, loss, or damage arising from the rental and use of the cart anywhere, including LIV streets, delivery and pickup, INCLUDING CLAIMS ARISING FROM STARBNB LLC'S OWN NEGLIGENCE. The Release does not cover STARBNB LLC's gross negligence or intentional misconduct.
Under the Release, you also agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless STARBNB LLC against claims, damages, fines, costs, and expenses, including attorney fees, that arise from your party's use of the cart, including claims by or on behalf of minors in your party, INCLUDING CLAIMS ARISING FROM STARBNB LLC'S OWN NEGLIGENCE.
Nothing in these Terms limits any right that Texas law does not allow to be limited.
18. Governing law and disputes
These Terms and your rental are governed by Texas law, except that this dispute section is governed by the Federal Arbitration Act.
Informal first. Before starting arbitration or a small-claims case, contact the other party and try to resolve the dispute for at least 30 days. Either party may propose mediation; it is optional.
Binding individual arbitration. Except for small-claims cases, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms, the Release, your rental, or the use of the cart will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Fees are allocated as those rules provide. Any in-person hearing is held in Cameron County, Texas, unless the rules allow it by phone, video, or written submissions. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.
Small claims. Either party may instead bring an individual claim in a justice court (small claims) in Cameron County, Texas, if it qualifies.
CLASS ACTION WAIVER. CLAIMS MAY BE BROUGHT ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY CLASS, COLLECTIVE, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.
Venue. Any court proceeding this section allows (small claims, compelling arbitration, confirming or challenging an award, or a claim found not subject to arbitration) will be in the state or federal courts for Cameron County, Texas.
Severability of this section. If the class action waiver is found unenforceable for a particular claim, that claim alone is severed and decided by a court in Cameron County, Texas, after the individual arbitration ends. If any other part of this section is unenforceable, that part is severed and the rest still applies. The Release of Liability contains the same agreement.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. The version you agree to at checkout is recorded with your reservation and applies to it.
Marketing email is optional. We send offers and discounts only if you tick the optional box when you book, and every marketing email has an unsubscribe link and our mailing address. We never send marketing text messages. See the Privacy page for how we use your information.
